How to confront an admission interview

TBS Barcelona's interview training session: 6th of May

As TBS Barcelona’s director of studies put it, “it is not very common for someone just out of high school to be interviewed as a part of an admission process. Actually, most universities and business schools require only standard tests”. However, TBS considers interpersonal competences crucial, and therefore a personal interview is included in the entrance exam no matter if it is in person or by Skype.

Candidates can be nervous about this uncommon part of the admission, so our school decided to create specialised sessions to prepare all students interested in entering TBS. These sessions always include a detailed presentation of the school and its programmes, a guided tour around the campus and, of course, an interview workshop to prepare for the day of the exam.

Even if they are natural communicators and don’t feel nervous at all, students can always discover how to structure their answers, the importance to look to both interviewers of other important facts they maybe had not thought about before. For Olivier Benielli, campus director at TBS Barcelona, “this interview [the admission interview, ed.note] is fundamental because, in just 30 minutes, the candidate builds an image of who he or she is, and this is the image the jury will keep”.

Last training session took place on 18th February and the next one will be held on the 6th of May 2017.
